I mean, there have to be a few good liberals out there who use their brains rather than their emotional glands, right? So I guess there could be a few conservatives who don't use their brains.

When it comes to human values being a conservative or liberal is not an appropriate way to give such a classification. Such a topic to me is like a three-dimensional spider web – too complex to fully understand by a cursory glance.

You said it brothah! I just wanna live my life such that, no matter what is said about me at my funeral -- it is probably true. :-)
Seriously good points though. The cry for myth can be especially desperate from those with trauma and misfortune in their lives. They are vulnerable and addictive to simplistic ideologies -- particulary those that are dualistic and apocalyptic. No living cosmology there -- "ideas" are more important than those that have to live them. Instead of a fun home in an erotic universe, you get a mausoleum with everything just "right". Kinda bring shame on their loved ones, living or not.
