This is how it is set up here.... You access the VSS through PROJECT / SOURCE CONTROL / CHECK OUT...

I don't know how to get to VSS from the Tools....

If you don't see this.. maybe the Project has not been connected to VSS...

I believe that if you select FILE while your PROJECT is open... then you should have a menu choice of JOINING the project to VSS if not already joined.

Make sure you are accessing the files through your Project Manager.. not from the File Menu.... VSS is linked to your Project... so if you have the Working Directory somewhere else... and the Project is looking elsewere... you would have 2 sets of the project on your PC/Network.... and one of them would be Read-Only - the VSS one.
