Hi!
This question was discussed a lot of times here and at other sites.
Yes you can do this. Take a look to the downloads section, (
DCOM Data Tests), then contact me if you're interested in more details.
But I would recommend you to read first a lot about:
- ADO (you can use disconnected recordsets to pass data between DCOM objects) + VFPCOM.DLL (at MS site)
- XML (used often in n-tire application to increase scalability)
Certain things, like MTS, would be interesting for you too.
HTH.
>Having implemented a Fox Server whereby I can run DLL methods over the internet via an ASP page, I now wonder if there is a simpler method if it is strictly Client-server over a LAN or WAN? ie if I do not want to use IIS.
>Is DCOM the answer? Has anyone got any samples on how to send a DBF from a Client to a Server DLL for processing by the DLL and updating a Server table.

The professional level of programmer could be determined by level of stupidity of his/her bugs
It is not appropriate to say that question is "foolish". There could be only foolish answers. Everybody passed period of time when knows nothing about something.
