Well, you should have some form of documentation to follow what you are doing so everyone knows. We have a release document that our build person uses to make all necessary changes to production when new source code is released. For example reference table updates, HTML templates, etc.

As far as VSS is concerned you need to do what you described above.

It could be done through VFP integration ,the project hook class and OLE automation. However, it could become confusing after time as to what and when things are happening. Too risky IMO...

Never tried to do that...
