>The seek command does not seem to work with some accented characters in my setup. I have not 100% tested the scale of the problem yet but ë and Ö do not always locate correctly. Do I need a special collation in the indexing to make the basic seek work? I thought not. Many thanks in advance.

As Vlad says, yes, you do need collation. Otherwise, MACHINE sequence is used - letters with diacriticals (special symbols), like "ö", will go after "z".

I had trouble with the SPANISH collation sequence, so I used GENERAL instead. I didn't test other languages, but some may be flawed, too.

Hilmar.
