Although I have enjoyed his music for a long time, I didn't realize how much of an influence Chet Atkins evidently had on so many other guitar players until I read and heard some of the comments in the news after he passed away last week. I guess that's one measure of greatness. He'll be missed around here, too. I'm glad to know your wife's nephew is carrying on in his style.

>>Just sitting here listening to Chet Atkins' C.G.P. (Certified Guitar Player) CD and being grateful for all the music he gave us while he was alive. If there was ever a smoother hand on the guitar, I don't know who it belongs to. Anybody else a fan?

>I am a big fan of anyone who has mastered an instrument and Chet was one of those. He will be missed around here as he was a big influence on my wife's nephew. When my wife's nephew learned how to play the guitar from his Dad he was good, not great but good. When he learned to play like Chet, then he has become really good. So good that Chet himself invited him to come to Nashville and get into studio recording. Unfortunately he has the ability, but does not have the drive to become a star. But he is happy writting Jazz and helping others around here create CD's of their music. He plays in a local theatre group and does a one man show for a local restaurant, while the patrons eat. I talked to him yesterday and he told me he plans to cut a personal CD of him doing nothing but Chet Atkins stuff. I am hoping to have a copy of that CD soon.
