Hi!

I use VSS for 3 years in development of VFP applications. When form is not checked from VSS, it is read-only locally. Anyway, VFP allows recompile the project that is in VSS and contains this form. The problem with read-only form occurs only in case project is not under VSS and form is read-only, or project is under VSS but form is not added to VSS and already read-only. Just try it. I always used this in work - no need to check all files in VSS just to recompile project and run EXE for testing, it looks way toooooo slow for development.

>While this is not a direct answer to the original posting, your trouble starts when forms or classes are R/O, since VFP needs to compile them into the same file.

>>When files are under VSS, project recompiling process aware about read-only flag and does recompiling correctly. It seems it is not aware only about FXP files. Why? Because FXP files intended to do not be included into the project. Including the source PRG file is enough. When VFP recompile PRG file, FXP file is re-created. If FXP is read-only - VFP fails. It is also not required to store FXP files at the VSS. Of course, if you have no PRG file (no source code), just include the FXP file only. VFP will not even try to recompile it, so there should be no problems.

The professional level of programmer could be determined by level of stupidity of his/her bugs

It is not appropriate to say that question is "foolish". There could be only foolish answers. Everybody passed period of time when knows nothing about something.
