So I'm not asking you about your feedback and recomandations for such an application.

I used VSS successfully. Now I use Perforce (reason: it is free for a maximum of two users). It integrates well into VFP. It requires a server, which can be NT.
Caveat: I didn't use it for heavy-duty tasks. For instance, right now I am the only programmer in the "team".
