Sounds like you could set a flag on the server and check for it when you write the page with the "onload" javascript event, but, I don't know how you'd get around rewriting the page. In ASPvote, we use the JS SRC string to run a server app that returns JavaScript, but, even that refreshes the whole page or frame. I've seen DHTML on the MSNBC site that refreshes just that area of the page. i think they do that with the Javascript Eval statement...
