It is quite possible that the conversion program - of which, if I understand correctly, you don't have the source code - issues CLEAR TYPEAHEAD somewhere. In this case, KEYBOARD won't work, I think, and, well, you're out of luck. I am not sure about macros, but I think those can be cleared, too.
