Right. That's one way of "skinning the cat".

We had it set up so we didn't have to perform all that copying or getting latest source code from VSS. Updates occurred automatically - at most you would perform a project update.

It's all about preferrence. I've worked in shops that do what you're doing and I've worked in shop that allow me to setup their VSS for automatic updates. Some people like your method others like my method and some like neither.

You can never keep everyone happy!
