>>>Just curious - What do you meanwhen you say "Doesn't require extensions like FrontPage"? Which extensions?
>>>>Fernando,

Mike, look above, I was commenting on what front page exitions were. What the are is a unique set of tools, - back end programs which allow users of the front page editor to create complex dataenabled - web sites, without going through tons of programming. like one would have to without the extinsions.

But, and here is the big but, I have worked with the extinsions. they work good for a limitied number of pages, The searching bombs out after about 500 pages. The emails, it generates you as the web page author really have no control of the output. Data saved using the FP extinsions, is saved in a CSV format. and so on. what you get with the wizards, is simplicity, at the expense of power, and flexability.

It is very true ,that other extinsions to web sites exist, mainly in the form of scripting languages. like afp - asp, php, jsp and so on. The difference is all of those are languages, which allow the web author to do whatever they like, while the fp extions, are pre defined executable, one size fits all solutions. So, all I am saying, when you are looking at an editor, you should be aware of the facts, and make a decision based on facts, and not the hype.

>What I like is that I don't need to resort to ASP, PERL, Javascript, VBscript, etc. to accomplish a whole lot with FrontPage. It's also nice to know that there are provisions for integrating FrontPage with customized HTML and other fancy technologies, but I haven't explored these yet. I'm not a rabid FrontPage fan, but I think it's a pretty decent tool that should not be dismissed from consideration on the basis of the Server Extensions.

In the beginning, there was a command prompt, and all was well.
