Strange how the world turns. 50 years ago people would send a note to the local grocer and he'd send a boy on a bike around to deliver perishables, sight unseen by you until receipt. I guess the difference was that you had a personal relationship with the grocer which you don't have with the supermarket or the scanner on the fridge. And most of those local grocers are long gone.

Who knows, perhaps local grocers will make a comeback so we can trust somebody to select our food for us? Then the scanner on the fridge can tell them we need milk, butter and some nice big crunchy red apples...

Regards

"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
