Here is what is in the help file for FoxPro 2.6
*************************************************************
onfiguration File: CONFIG.FPW
CONFIG.FPW, the FoxPro for Windows configuration file, is searched for in the following locations in this order:
1 The startup .APP or .EXE, if any. The configuration file included in the startup .APP or .EXE must be named CONFIG.FPW.
2 The directory specified with the -C
startup switch. If just a directory is specified in , FoxPro looks for a file named
CONFIG.FPW in the specified directory. If CONFIG.FPW cannot be found in the specified directory, FoxPro stops searching for
a configuration file and uses its default settings.
If contains a file name, the specified file is used for the FoxPro configuration file. If the file doesn't exist, FoxPro stops
searching for a configuration file and uses its default settings.
3 The directory specified with the FOXPROWCFG MS-DOS environment variable. If only a directory is specified in
FOXPROWCFG, FoxPro looks for a file named CONFIG.FPW in the specified directory. If CONFIG.FPW cannot be found in the
specified directory, FoxPro stops searching for a configuration file and uses its default settings.
If FOXPROWCFG contains a file name, the specified file is used for the FoxPro configuration file. If the file doesn't exist, FoxPro
stops searching for a configuration file and uses its default settings.
4 The FoxPro directory.
5 Along the MS-DOS path. The first CONFIG.FPW found along the MS-DOS path is used.
6 If CONFIG.FPW cannot be found in any of the above locations, FoxPro uses its default settings.

I don't think it will use your config.fpw file by just double-clicking the EXE.
Try setting up a short-cut to the EXE, and place the config.fpw file on the command line....
c:\directorytoEXE\MyEXe -cC:\directorytoEXe\config.fpw
Give it a try.

>I'm unclear still about syntax. In my config file I have written:
>SCREEN=OFF
>PATH=G:\JFARLEY\S155_SCHED
>JFARLEY is the name next to the network icon S155_SCHED is the name of the folder. The exe and the config.fpw is in a folder on C:\ but when I start the exe by clicking on it (I have not yet made a separate shortcut for it) the exe cannot find the data. It says it cannot find MyFile.dbf in the folder where the exe is. It is not looking in the G:\...location.
