If you are just starting with Web development, the project just got bigger. You have to get at least a working knowldge on many different languages and enviroments. and how they all work together. and sometimes don't.
There is going to be quite a few choices that you will forced to make, as you learn about different technologies. choices which will direct, what can, or how different web enabled database work.

Choices like server side scripting, vs client side scripting. what browsers are going to write for, ie / netscape, opera or only IE (becuase of its 85% marketshare.)

What I would suggest is first get a handle on some basics of html. Any basic html book should do, just to get an idea of what html does and does not do, then, look into asp, or fox web, or afp.web. as well as west wind. west wind opinion, has the most resouces avail, and one of the most respected fox - to web connections out there. but by no means is it the only way to go.

the hardest time, for me was just getting started, (getting all the various languages working together ) once that was working, then creating web pages, became fun.

Here are a few of my favorite resources I use for web development.

if you dont mind working with wizards, to do some of your work, I found this program, to be just what some people love. Create web enabled web sites, in just a few minutes. based on whatever odbc database you specifiy. I personally use Mysql, but it works just fine with mssql, or any other data base. it also will generate code for you in Javascript, Perl, asp, or php. I used it a few times, and got exactally what i was looking for out of it.

So these are my thoughts. Best of luck.

>P.S. Also, maybe you know a good school/class for WEB Design?
In the beginning, there was a command prompt, and all was well.
