For example, my current project has lots of code that was written by a well known VFP consulting group. All the comments start with *--. Personnally, I see no reason to use the --. It doesn't make it any more of a comment. It doesn't stand out differently because all the comments are that way. IMO, why use *-- when * will do?

Actually, I've seen some folks use unique implementations of the asterisk plus something else in order to allow them to automatically extract those comments into help files, identify individual programmers, etc.

I think ther's some potential value there but I sure don't want to propose a standard! <g>
