Jens Erik:

I am a Codemine user and I have been using VisDocs for some time now <s>. To be honest, my requirement to find a Word layout tool is precisely coupled with VisDocs. VisDocs is only as good as your RTF layout. As far as Word is concerned, VisDocs doesn't support Word features like Textbox, which, can contain different types of Word objects as well as text, and can be "floated" around a Word document.

This leaves you with Word tables as the best medium for boxed or formatted data. I don't know about you, but creating irregular shaped tables in Word is not easy, creating tables within tables is not easy, and moving Word tables around with a mouse with any sort of precision is a nightmare.

Sometimes, I want to create two different tables in Word and place them at the same horizontal level in a Word document. However, this doesn't appear to be possible so I have to create one all encompassing tables which again can be difficult.

VisDocs is a great tool and I use it more and more. However, there are a few ommissions from its feature set (RTF support) that it needs to be really usefull. Things like the support of frames and textboxes in Word.

Thanks for your response.
