The creation of text files from the REPORT command needs some special planning. One thing you can do is to ensure that the font for all is a non-propotional font like Courier New. This will ensure that the character spacing is ok when you view it. Then you need to ensure that the output fields dont go over the bounds of what you have set. As the to file option tends to wrap the text around to a new line. Which is what I think is happening to you. I have created quite a few report files to text and have found that I had to do many trial and errors to ensure that the detail band did not wrap around. So my data had to be no more characters across than can fit converting it to text. If there are too many characters to fit on a line then VFP will wrap and continue. Try moving the fields over or closer to each other. Try taking a field away and see if the double spacing goes away. Try closing up the space the detail area takes up (verticle). HTH
