Why don't you use the native Mailmerge facilities of Word?
I'm sure your client would be more comfortable using word standard text formatting etc than VFP's report writer.
Just produce a Mailing list from VFP in a format that Word can understand.. DBF, CSV etc then run the mailmerge wizard in word.

Alternatley you could use word automation to do the same job. but that can be a bit slow
