In general, we are being told this a nation wide event that involves all software developers. The perception since the .COM crash is that software developers and in fact all IT professionals should not be paid as much as they were.

If clients could they would ask us to pay them for the honor and privilege to do their bidding. Perceptions often become reality. If .COM is all but gone then all IT professionals should suffer.
