I found your answer. Just make the height of the detail band smaller. When I did this the double spacing dissappeared. You can do this by doubleclicking on the Detail Band. A dialog will appear letting you adjust the height. It may look strange in the report designer to see the detail line cutting the fields in half, but the report spacing will be ok when it is sent to text. Try it and let me know how it does.
