>Does anyone else feel that the VFP Online Docs leave much to be desired?
I'm glad to here it's not just me. <g>
I'm new to VFP and I find the on-line help often confusing and the printed
manuals useless. What I've done is to use a program called askSam. It's a
text database with the ability to create hypertext links. When I come
across something new, I look it up in the on-line help, then copy and paste
it into my askSam file. I can add my own notes or info I've gleaned from
here or the Compuserve forum. Then I can create links to related items. It
also allows you to do searches, including fuzzy searches.
The downside, of course there's a downside, is that it's not cheap. The
current version is 3.0f and sells for $150. (You can sometimes find it a
bit cheaper.) It's currently 16-bit only with the 32-bit version under
development.
An interesting aside, an earlier DOS version of askSam was instrumental in
breaking the Iran-Contra scandel.
