I have just create a report with a few fields and a line...
Basically I get the same problem as you.. If the line goes from the Detail into the footer the line doesn't stretch with the report

But.. if the line starts in the header and goes into the footer, it works fine

the same applies to a box as well..

So it looks to me as if the only solution is to start the line in the header
Maybe if you don't want it in the header.. (as a total botch) you could cover it with a white line..

Or maybe someone else has a better solution? (or maybe a search facility... You could try one of the other forum's that has search ability VFUG looks pretty good)
