Have discoved solution to my own problem. First was to put a cd into drive D:. Second was MSKB article 119248 on "error during compression" while splitting second file. It says path plus filename must be no more than 50 characters. Mine was 42. But it also says that FP 2.6 can not create directories more than three levels down. So I moved the target directories one level up. Was it that the directory levels were too many or that removing one shortened the path length. Don't know and don't care.

>Yes, I have a FoxPro 2.6a application running on Windows 2000, both on my PC and the client's. It required no special action on my part. My clients use a Netware server. The FoxW2600 and foxtools are on their individual PCs, on the Path defined in the environment. Work files on the C: drive also.
