How you (or can you) remove the default Text1 control from a grid column in the designer?

I added an edit box to a grid. Reset the column currentcontrol to point to the editbox. Everything works as expected. Once before I removed the default TextBox (Text1) control in a similar situation but I cannot remember how I did it. I can do it programically with RemoveObject('Text1') but want to do it in the designer while I'm working on the grid.
