You could add an array property to your grid class that you fill with the ID's. Your Grid init could fill the ID's into each column header. I am using this method to pass each header the index tag it should order the grid on when the header is clicked. I also save the standard header caption before I remove it and then set it in my custom header. You can do this with any property so that you can set properties at design time and use them at run time. Eriks method should work as a starting point.
