I was teaching at York College at the time, and my wife and I were house parents at the "Mothers Jewels Home" orphanage in York. Gargarin had made the comment on his flight that he 'looked for God and didn't see him'. Borman read from Genisis as they orbited the moon. Made the hair stand up on the back of my neck. Few remember Gargarin but most remember or have read of Apollo 8.
