>>Yawn. Tried this AM, all fog and mist, 45 degrees to boot. Sigh. Maybe tomorrow...

>FOURTY-FIVE degrees????? isn't it supposed to be summer in NY?
It was. The middle of April, I believe. 3 days. It was wonderful.
>>I stand corrected. I lived in the Philippines for a number of years

>oh...where and when? military?
Early to mid 80's. Contractor to the USAF. Zambales province, near San Antonio. South of Iba. Right on the beach.
>the PI seems to get a lot more Typhoons than we do, but oc, they're a bigger target. I lived there for a year...mostly around the N. coast of Mindoro, in Puerto Galera ...was on a sailboat, so we spent Typhoon season there, since it was a great harbor...then spent about 4-5 months sailing around, east and a bit south of there (but definitely NORTH of Mindinao). Also flew to Palawan for a vacation once...El Nido was lovely.
Sounds like that was a lot of fun. Unfortunately, most of my youthful sailing averaged about 200 ft under the surface so I really coundn't enjoy the view much.
>Have you come across the book, "The Biggest Elvis," by Kluge (I think)? if you're at all still interested in the PI, it's a fascinating book...
I haven't, but will look for it. I still have many friends over there.
>Ah...thanks...I attended Cortland State for 2 years (I see that's close!) thought I wanted to be a HS math teacher - then I discovered these computer thingys.
Well, you were 15 miles from 'home'. And we can always use a good math teacher.
>Happy Weekend...J
And to you...
