>>This is from Lucien's original post: Does anyone know why 'set default to &somepath' doesn't work while in a class? In a separate .prg it works fine but when it's part of the code in a class method it generates a 'Command contains unrecognized phrase/keyword' error. At no point in this problem statement does he say it's runtime or compile time. Without know exactly what the value of somepath is it's impossible to supply a definitive answer.

I shall try one more time. Andrew originally said:

">>I expect it is because class files are binaries, and the & command is inline, hence only works in the "interpreted" .prg files.."

He was asserting that macro expansion does not work in class libraries. That is a false assertion. That it is false is not speculation on my part. I left it to Andre to confirm for himself (and later to you) that it is the case that macro expansion works as well in VCX's as it works in PRGs. I cannot attach a VCX here that demonstrates that. Nor would I, if I could.

Since the assertion is false, the speculation that follows is meaningless.

As for the tone of my response to Andrew's message, you have made your point on that issue. We disagree. There is no more to discuss on the subject.
