Thanks, that gives me basically what I want. I did a web search as your further reply suggested and found a site that will give me what I want. Just need to figure out how to incorporate it into VFP (or I may add it to my standard function DLLs written in VB). I've just realised it will also come in useful for a website I'm designing - credit card payments go through an agency in the States but most customers are UK - saves me having to keep the exchange rate up to date.

Your app can make a SOAP call, passing parameters for what you want and receive in return a value (which could be a string with several rates included, or better, an XML document with the various rates). Or, your app could just ask for the individual rate you want or even pass in a value and specifics about which rates and receive back the converted value.
