One of biggest problems if you want to move to VFP is the number of scaremongers who keep saying Foxpro is dead and there will be no support for it in the future. On the otherhand Microsoft are just about to release VFP 7 and are talking about version 8. Not bad for a dead language!
Also dbf files can be read in many applications and users have a habit of opening one table in excel (for example) and breaking relationships by adding, deleting or modifying a record in isolation.
There is no autoincrement facility when adding new records (it can be simulated of course in the database) but native support would be useful.
Both these points can be overcome by using a VFP as a front end to a database server like SQL server, Sybase etc.
The view designer leaves a lot to be desired when using more than two tables.
Don't get me wrong Irene, VFP is a tremendous product and I would encourage you to seriously consider it but, like me, its not quite perfect!
Barry.
