My Internet Development Group will only allow SQLServer. Of course If I can build a strong case they may allow it.
Will try to make the application more clear.
I write commercial banking software for Residential and Commercial Construction bankers. The bankers' customers are builders. My app is called RealTrac. It is written in VFP 6.0 and resides on 30 different Novelle servers. Each server is a stand alone application with its own data. So I have 30 sites: Miami, Atlanta, Nashville, etc. There are about 8 people who use RealTrac at each site.
My clients, the bankers, want to allow the builders the ability to review their draws, payments, disbursements, lot inventories, etc on the Internet. All this information is in RealTrac. Along with viewing data, the bankers also want to allow the builders to request a disbursement of funds. The bankers would review the request and either approve or reject. The bankers would base their decision on their RealTrac data. If they approve the request, the RealTrac data needs to be updated to put the funds into the account.
Let us assume the Internet development group will allow us to use VFP tables. I am having a hard time understanding how 30 different sets of tables can be accessed over the Internet. Depending on the builders logon, of course I would know which set of tables. But is it as simple as directly to the correct set of tables? What is that technic called and what is envolved?
