The backstyle is opaque, and under the editbox there is also an opaque black shape ( for shadow ). The forecolor of the editbox is black, and the form has a bitmap as background. My opinion is this behaviour is created by the ctMonth control. Prior to using the control, everything works fine. It is after the first time the control is showed this happens. The control is initially disabled and invisible, and it becomes enabled and visible whenever i want to use it.

Anyway, thanks for your response.

>Is the ForeColor of the Editbox the same as the BackColor of the form [container of the editbox] and is the BackStyle of the editbox transparent? If so, that would be your problem.

>>Hi
>>I have a form with a complicated read-only grid, some buttons, one ctMonth ( datepicker ActiveX control from DBI Technologies ) and one Editbox. The form has keypreview set to .T. and a lot of code in the keypress method, mainly to activate or deactivate the ctMonth control, or bring up many other forms depending on the line you're in the grid. All is well, except the editbox. Whenever the editbox gets the focus, you cannot see the changes you do by typing until you exit the field, i.e you see the cursor moving and all, it just does not write as you type, it's like if i choosed "SET INK to TRANSPARENT". Of course, i added some code in the KeyPress method of the form stating that if the ActiveControl is the editbox, DoDefault() and return, but still nothing...

Why do programs stop working correctly as soon as you leave the Fox?
