I use the MS xml parser that comes with IE5.5, I *assume* it is compiled, though generating xml adds huge overhead compared to other mechanisms...

Not sure I agree about VFP being the "slouch" at data presentation... this is probably the case with the standard VFP UI for a number of well-known reasons, but those of us who do web stuff know that VFP is a very quick little beast especially once you start doing asp-type stuff.
