Dear all,
sorry for crossposting here, but I think this one has relation with ORACLE.

I have created application using VFP6 as the front end application, and ORACLE 8.0.5 as the database server. I have moved all business processes to ORACLE side, and leave almost nothing in the VFP side. I have been using the application in another area and I have been using dial up to the location where the database reside. I feel the speed is acceptable (quite fast), even though sometimes I have only 12 kbps in connection speed. Now my company wants to change the connection line with VSAT. Problem is that in VSAT we always have minimum 500 msec delay . I think this could make the application run slower even if we have 128 kbps connection line.

Also I have noticed that when I save or retrieve a record, there are packets delivered from and to both sites (client and server). I thought that the packets are delivered once, and then the client is waiting for the answer. But, it turns out there are some sort of handshaking process happening, and this could make things worse in VSAT because of the time delay.

Is there any setting in ODBC, or NET8 configuration that can be tweaked to overcome this?
Is there any sugestion to optimize the program?

Thanks in advance.
