I'm not sure about assets, but I have worked for a company whose attitude to employees took a very noticeable change (for the worse, in most peoples opinion) & renamed the Personnel dept. to "Human Resources". We felt, & were often treated, on a par with other resources, such as desks, chairs, etc.

More than once I was in the position of not being able to employ highly qualified & very able people, because the "Human Resources" department said that their personality profile tests showed that they did not fit the company profile & I had to employ less able people.
