I almost accepted a job 3 years ago and one of the conditions of employment was no UT access during work hours so I guess some bosses are sensitive to it.

If you post a question, log off, and then log in for a minute or two periodically to check responses, then it's an enormous benefit for the employer in terms of resolving issues. OTOH, if you spend a lot of time "hanging out" here to the exclusivity of other work, then it can be ... maybe not a waste ... but an unproductive use of time.

Perhaps the boss should refine his policy rather than blanketly discourage UT access.

In some defense of the boss, I will say that it is addictive and I spend a certain amount of time (won't say how much) checking stuff out that has nothing to do with a current problem or even relevant to the department's projects.
