If the Net Gods could rid us of AOhelL, 99.999% of the world's redistribution of viruses and hoaxes would vanish along with it. Anytime any of my customers, friends, aquaintences, etc., ask me about an e-mail, virus or download problem, my first question is "Are you using AOL?" The answer is almost always yes. I then tell them most of their problems would be resolved by getting a real ISP.

I had recently disabled McAfee because it was interfering with some stuff I was testing and had forgotten to turn it back on. My daughter moves in and installs AOL Instant Messenger; within a week I have a virus. I have a few ideas how it got me (some sort of worm related to AOLIM maybe)...but it threw a scare into me.
