I was trying to use the GetSharedDefaultFolder method to write a util for my client in looking up something in the SentMail folder of another user's folder where permissions had been allowed ... and I got an error.

The error led me to this article below, on the MS knowledge base...

I find it curious that it says it applies to OL 2002 .. I was using the OLE8 help file as a ref to the obj. model. So, it has existed for while. Sloppy.

Does anyone know if there is another way to get to the sentmail folder of another (delegated) user's account? Is there a method to get to the root folder of the mailbox if permissions were granted .. so that I could just traverse the folders to get there?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

SYMPTOMS
You use the GetSharedDefaultFolder method with the olFolderDeletedItems, olFolderOutbox, or olFolderSentMail constants, and receive the following error message:

Could not complete the operation. One or more parameter values are not valid.

CAUSE
This is an error in the documentation. You cannot use the olFolderDeletedItems, olFolderOutbox, or olFolderSentMail constants with the GetSharedDefaultFolder method
