I've now spent some time on this and found that as long as I set the ADODataSetCommand.SelectCommand.Text property to the required SELECT * FROM somefile WHERE field = value, I can still use all the VS.Net drag drop design facilities to create the DataSet and bind it to my DataGrid etc.
Now - I'm working on creating a new VFPDataSetCommand component to make life even easier.
Of course - I expect all this will change in Beta 2 (when I finally get it) - but it's all good experience <g>
