Why on earth are you using row buffering? VFP will happily attempt a TABLEUPDATE whenver you move the record pointer. There are a lot of commands that move the record pointer behind the scenes.

Anything that you can do with row buffering, you can do with table buffering. And it is entirely under developer control when and if a TABELUPDATE is issued.
