Most VB developers (the great majority) do not use VB to write web apps. They use ASP and VBS. The most advanced ones, use DLLs custom written in VB or an ISAPI connector. I do not know of any product in the VB world that is comparable to Web Connect in that it supplies you with an ISAPI connector (wc.dll) and that it lets you easily use the full VFP language, even for scripting (AFP does somethingg similar).
