I am about to sell my first version of my very first VFP Application. I have been working on this "first release" for over 18 months now. I took this on as a learning experience on my own without any formal agreement. (My client is my former employer.) I've been telling the primary user of the benefits it will provide her over their current FPD26 application. The major benefit is the ability to email a 300 page lab analysis report in 45 seconds as opposed to printing and snail mailing hard copies to the customer. After this first version is in the hands of this primary user I am absolutely certain it will quickly evolve into a very significant application within their organization. I can see this app also being sold as a "Viewer / Reporter" app to their clients.

I am looking for suggestions and assistance on writing a "Terms of Sale" for this initial release. I want to cover all the bases (or as many as I can) with the future in mind.

I know there are many good people here at UT who have sold VFP Apps to their own clients, and probably had a contract prior to the start of the project.

Well I am assured by my primary user (the Vice President and Lab Manager) that the owner of the company will be purchasing this app from me.

Do you experienced programmers out there do this sort of thing without a lawyer?

Any suggestions on Contract templates will be appreciated.
