What are you using for your database (back-end)? If you are using Access you can actually store the file within a field (I think the data type for the field is OLE), or just link to the file itself (full qualified path). If you are using SQL I believe it gets trickier as you then have to insert the object as a binary type. Unfortunately I'm at home right now so I don't have my resources here to cite you specific examples.
