Sorry to take so long getting back to you.
I've given up on using that approach for a number of reasons. I ended up building the code needed to change the Memo field directly by using a spinner to determine which row you want to change or delete and moving those fields in the row to separate corresponding fields above the memo field. It works fine, but it doesn't hi-lite the row you've selected in the memo field.
