Are you saying I need to code something like Replace View.Field with This.DisplayValue in the Valid? Man, that seems like it should be unnecessary given I have bound the ControlSource to the field in the view. I don't really understand how the AddItem and AddListItem methods work. Looked them up, but it didn't become clear.

Beware about its refreshing - it refreshed quite often by many actions with properties and methods of combobox. You can also always add this new item to the combobox list using AddItem or AddListItem methods of combobox - they work for any row source type, data in list is just a copy of data in the RowSourse and updated by Requery method or RowSource change.
