I'll second that. I sometimes design and code software/firmware that can cause serious bodily injuries or even death and I take testing seriously. Testing (planning and actual testing) often takes more than 50% of the schedule.

BTW, my sister-in-law is the lead tester for a robotics company and she makes more than 160K a year as an employee. Not many programming jobs pay as much :(.
