Doug made a suggestion for the private beta (there are alpha testers, too, so far as I've been able to gather). However, there was also a very public beta of Fox that was widely distributed. I'm sorry if you didn't come upon it til late, but hopefully you will be able to participate in the future.

It is, I think, a mistake to make assumptions about what's gone on without information about the process. It's valid to ask questions about it, but making assumptions is, as we all know (I won't try to use another colorful metaphor) rarely accurate.
