>Guy and Thomas, thanks for both of your input on this matetr. You helped me get my ahead around some of the questions I haven't been able to answer. I've decided to post here the route I am planning to take so that others may comment on the merit of it and future hunters of the same info may find this thread interesting. I suppose that is what UT is for.

The raeson I have started at this point is to go full fulls erver side apps and then see what is lacking, unavialable, not-possible, etc. From here I plan to move more heavily into ASP and DHTML as they seem to provide more functionaility at the expense of moving the app somewhat to the client. I thought about starting on VB.NET but decided that I may be better to start with what was out there already and really try and learn some fundamentals. Much like Windows is far easier with a great DOD knowledge I see ASP as easie if HTML is already learned.

I originally only came to UT to get answers to this question but have found a lot of pride in bein able to help others out with my hardware/software,network background and some programming questions if they're not too hard!). Cheers.

Jason;

I think you are taking a sound approach. To me the present technology that ASP and DHTL allows is limited. It is possible to accomplish many things but I saw "the handwriting on the wall" about 1 1/2 years ago. My interest is in providing complex applications via a web browser, and Intranet. So, I am lucky - I can use a browser that works - I.E. Netscape is not an option for me.

As you progress in your knowledge of ASP, etc., do look into .NET and its concepts. It is very different and has great potential, I believe. If you need any assistance let us know - we may be able to point you in the right direction, discuss concepts or give some code examples.

Now if I could just figure out how to "jazz" up these brain dead web forms!
