FWIW I used to be a *very* keen VFP fanatic and participated in, ah, certain beta programmes for a product you might possibly guess at but I could not possibly comment... and I was one of many that missed that damned View Requery() Memory Leak problem that bedevilled some of us in 1995-1996.

Lesson for me: Beta programmes and participants do their best, but software is a very human endeavour and bugs sneak in. The above was a HUUUUGE bug and it lasted for over a year.

Re the issue: I ask myself what my customers would say if *I* did this- i.e. released a new version followed by an immediate hotpatch. They would grumble and try to screw something out of me for free... but underneath they'd be pleased that I'm prepared to take a dose of "humble pie" so they are not subjected to a bug I already know about.

Regards

"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
